Job search: tips & tricks

Finding a job can be very difficult, especially if you are looking for your first part-time job. I had, and still have, some troubles finding a job. Job hunting can be challenging and stressful especially after you've put in multiple applications. but, don't give up! You have to believe there's a job out there just waiting for you. Here are five tips and tricks I used when finding my part-time job at Old Navy.

1. Use resources such as Indeed, Glassdoor, and Monster. I used Glassdoor so so so much to figure out what past and current employees liked and disliked about the company.

2. Apply to multiple places. While you might have your heart set on working at a certain place, you should keep your options open. Applying to various places allows you to see where you do and don't like to work.

3. Research the company you are applying for. The information you find will be useful for your interview questions.

4. If you are applying for a summer job, start applying in January. High school students will be looking for summer jobs as well, so you need to grab one before they are all gone!

Tricks for when you go to an interview

1. Be yourself! I was my usual, outgoing self in my group interview and professional in my singular interview. The goal for the group interview is to stand out, so be yourself. If you only have a singular interview, continue to be you but in a more intimate, professional way.

2. Ask questions. If you seem intrigued, they will be intrigued in you. Ask question about the company, what the interview likes about working there, etc.

3. Thank them for their time!! Don't leave without thanking the hiring manager or whoever interviewed you. They will see that you are polite and respectful; which is always a plus.
