Lately, I have been cooking dinner for my family. It has been a little challenging because I am teaching myself to cook more complex things than I am accustomed to. But, I have become more and more comfortable in cooking different things. Recently, I thought to myself, "If I am having some frustrations with cooking, other people must be too." So I decided to share some websites, videos, and recipes I have been using the past few weeks!
Recipes
Simple Sloppy Joes (All Recipes Website). This turned out really good. I used All Recipes recipe as a reference and used what I had that was similar. Makes 6
Ketchup 3/4 cup
Yellow Mustard 1 teaspoon
Brown Sugar 3 1/2 teaspoons
Ground Beef 1 pound
Salt (just a pinch)
Pepper (just a pinch)
frozen pepper and onion mix (half the bag)
garlic powder 1/2 teaspoon
Cook the beef on a stove top until it is brown. Drain the beef so there is no liquid left over before putting in the other ingredients. Add the pepper and onion mix, garlic powder, salt, brown sugar, mustard, and ketchup and mix. Let it simmer and enjoy
Fried Rice W/ Turkey Sausage. This was a recipe I came up with because I had no chicken or shrimp to use. Instead I used turkey sausage. (I know it doesn't sound like it goes). But it actually tasted good!
bagged brown rice (1-2 packs)
frozen broccoli (half the bag)
turkey sausage
soy sauce
sweet and sour sauce
In a medium sized pot, place the bagged rice in and bring to a boil. In a separate pan, cook the turkey sausage. Add the sweet and sour sauce to the sausage and let it simmer. Drain the rice and take it out of the bag(s). Cook the rice on medium heat and add the broccoli and soy sauce. Mix the turkey sausage and the rice and enjoy!
Helpful YouTube Channels
Tasty. I have found Tasty to be one of the best channels for step by step instructions. However, if you are someone how likes for someone to talk you through it, this channels might not be for you. They show you how to cook it and they have the instructions written in the videos. The first recipe I used was the Stuffed Chicken Parmesan. It turned out really nice.
Rosanna Pansino. I stumbled upon Rosanna's channel through Blogilates. If you are looking for something to make your sweet tooth happy, this is it. She makes cakes, cookies, and other baked goods. She also makes challenge videos, diy's, and other things to keep you entertained!
Dave Beaulieu. Beaulieu has videos entitled "No recipe required". He makes the dishes very simple and to the point. If you like talk through videos, he's your guy.
Websites for Recipes
Remember that you might not have all the ingredients in your pantry for some recipes. But, that's OK! Improvise and you can make a recipe of your own.
Good Luck!
