Self-Love on Valentine's Day

You know what's annoying? When distant relatives constantly ask you if you are dating someone every single time you see them. You know what's weird? Pretty much all of my friends are in relationships. Crazy thing (for some people) is I'm not even jealous of them. At one point and time, I would be glowing green. But 2018 has brought me a different outlook on relationships. Of course one day I want to settle down and have a gorgeous guy that loves me like girls love Beyonce. But, I don't want to "settle". I'm only in my second year of college. I have never dated anyone. I haven't experienced "relationship goals". And I don't want to until someone who is of faith, kind, funny, intelligent, and mature stumbles my way. So far, I have taken this year to understand what I like and what I don't. I found that I cannot stand when people can't hold a conversation. I get aggravated when people don't text me back in a reasonable amount of time. I get bored when people talk at me instead of having a discussion. I hate when people ask my advice and totally go against it later. I love road trips. I love cooking with the people I care about. I love having meaningful or meaningless conversations at 1 AM with my sister or my friends. Bottom line is, if I don't love myself, how can I expect someone else to? I want to figure out how I can continue to make myself happy and radiate my happiness to others. This Valentine's day, take the time to love yourself. If you don't have you, who will? I challenge you all to plan something special for yourselves. Save up money for a trip, go to the spa, treat yourself to a nice dinner out; alone. Do more of what makes you happy and love yourself.
