As I sit here and write this post, I am surrounded by a dirty room, I am behind on work, and I am not taking care of my body. My mind is still on winter break. But, it has been 5 weeks since I have been home, vacation time is over. I want to be on top of my assignments, work out and healthy eating schedule, and cleanliness. So how am I going to do it? See down below!
1. Clean every other day. I typically don't have time to do a lot of things. I have meetings or shows Monday-Wednesday. But, I have a break sometime during the day. Instead of sitting and watching YouTube, I will do something productive, like clean or neaten up my side of the room. It only takes about 20 minutes for me to clean (only considering if I am fully paying attention and not singing or getting distracted). I, and you, can take 20 minutes three days a week to clean up.
2. The Daniel's Fast. Lucky me, the exact time I was looking to stop eating so bad, the Daniel's Fast came around. The fast is from February 20th- March 31st. Here are the basic guidelines:
A. No fast food. Meaning nothing fried, nothing from a place like McDonald's (yes even the salad, they put sugar in their salad)
B. Fruits and Veggies are great. You will probably be using these the most. You can use the for salads and smoothies and other great dishes.
C. No dairy. This will probably be the hardest for me. But, this means no butter. I know, that is a big hit. But, you can substitute it for olive or vegetable oil.
D. No meat. I am flexible on this. I will still be eating grilled chicken and fish because the meals at my school are limited. However, stay away from red meat.
E. Beans, nuts, and whole grains. The beans are protein, which is great to have. If you get rice or pasta, ask for or buy whole grain, they are so much healthier.
F. No Sugar. I know, but we can do it.
G. No liquids other than water, coconut water or milk, almond milk, or pressed juices (vegetable or fruit)
It is a lot. But stay up on your praying and look to the future. Make sure to see yourself happier in the end. We can do this!
3. Write assignments on a calendar and study notes each weekend. I tend to wait until the last minute to do things. But, if I want that 4.0 (which I really do), I have to get more on top of my stuff. I know I'm busy. However there must be a way to get around my schedule and get good grades. I'm going to reread my notes every other day and make flashcards. I will also go over notes and assignments at the end of the week. I should also pre-write things. In other words, I should write assignments a week or so in advance so I have more time during the week to work on other things and not be so stressed.
We can do this. Let's all get our lives together. Spring is approaching and we have time to turn things around. My school goal is to be on top of my work by March and have at least a 3.8 by the end of the semester (even though I'm still working towards my 4.0).By late March I will have a set schedule for cleaning. After my schedule is set and working, I will be able to do DIY projects without feeling cluttered. By July, I will feel and be healthier then I've ever been. I'm ready for this new season, are you?
